Introduction

Dear members, dear friends,

I'd like to present the follow up of BelSECT board involvement in professional and educational fields.
First of all, our 11 th Symposium on Perfusion will be hosted by Leen Vercaemst and Luc Puis. In collaboration with our scientific committee, they are going to organize this international meeting in Brussels (Autoworld) at the 18th of October 2008.
In advance, I'm glad to invite all of you to this important event.

Our European delegate, Dominique Hella, is working on the EBCP examination that will be held in November of this year. She will be re-appointed as Chairperson of the certification sub-committee.

As you know, we are finalizing a file for the future new Health Ministry in order to define our professional profile. We will need your input to finish this issue.

Our webmaster, Gerdy Debeuckelaere, is looking for elaboration of a specific database in perfusion in Belgium (in collaboration with cardiac surgeons and anaesthetists) in order to complete this official file. The project will be presented at our next educative evening.

We also stay in touch with the different national nurses associations ( FNIB / ACN / NVKVV) in order to have their support in our work for professional recognition.

Last point I'd like to mention: Geert Vanvaerenberg (our vice president) will attempt 'Best practices in Perfusion' in Canada in October. Amsect and the International Consortium for Evidence-Based Perfusion invites different European perfusion associations in order to create a evidence database in perfusion.
